Why are we writing letters to Virginia voters in 2021?
On November 2, Virginia voters will choose their next governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general, as well as members of the House of Delegates and local officials. Virginia’s odd-year elections tend to serve as a bellwether for the midterm elections, offering clues about the political environment. With an eye toward 2022, we want to encourage as many voters as possible to cast ballots in this important election.
For the 2019 general elections, Vote Forward volunteers wrote and sent 300K letters to Virginia voters, which resulted in more than a percentage point increase in turnout. In 2021, the goal is to send 1.5 million letters to voters to increase voter turnout by at least as much.
